ACCUA takes on the annual coordination of REACU at the 2026 Technical Workshops

The meeting held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife strengthens cooperation among agencies with the aim of exchanging experiences and sharing knowledge



The Agency for Scientific and University Quality of Andalusia (ACCUA) participated on 5 and 6 February in the Technical Workshops of the Spanish Network of University Quality Agencies (REACU), held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and organised by the Canary Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE). This meeting brought together technical staff from various university quality assurance agencies across the country with the aim of sharing experiences, analysing good practices in the field of quality assurance and strengthening mechanisms for inter-institutional coordination.

The Technical Workshops constitute a well-established working space within REACU, aimed at the continuous improvement of evaluation processes. Throughout the sessions, technical teams participated in a range of thematic working groups focused on key issues such as the evaluation and accreditation of degree programmes, institutional accreditation of centres, faculty evaluation, certification of internal quality assurance systems, and the application of European reference frameworks. These working groups, led by technical staff from different agencies, enable progress in the harmonisation of criteria, methodologies and procedures, producing analytical outputs that contribute to the development of shared practices across the Spanish university system.

During the meeting, the importance of strengthening collaboration networks among agencies was highlighted, not only at a technical level but also at an institutional level, in order to ensure the coherence, reliability and transparency of evaluation processes across the entire system. In this regard, direct interaction between technical teams facilitates the exchange of specialised knowledge and the consolidation of a professional community committed to excellence in quality assurance.

Within the framework of these workshops, the directors of the agencies that make up REACU held their annual General Assembly. At this meeting, ACCUA, represented by its Director, Miguel Aguilar Urbano, assumed the coordination of the network for the coming year, taking over from the host agency.

ACCUA’s participation in these workshops is part of its commitment to the continuous improvement of its quality assurance activities, which include the evaluation, monitoring and accreditation of official degree programmes, the institutional accreditation of university centres, faculty evaluation, and the certification of Internal Quality Assurance Systems. The Agency also actively contributes to the incorporation of international standards and good practices, in line with the principles of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
