ACCUA participates in the DOCENTIA programme good practices dissemination workshop

The event brought together Spanish university quality assurance agencies and university representatives to share experiences in the quality assurance of teaching



On Wednesday, 25 February, the DOCENTIA programme good practices dissemination workshop took place at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and was organised by the Spanish university quality assurance agencies that form the Red Española de Agencias de Calidad Universitaria (REACU). Representing ACCUA, two technical staff members responsible for the areas of Faculty Evaluation and Accreditation and Higher Education Programme Evaluation and Accreditation attended the event.

Since its creation in 2007, the DOCENTIA programme has undergone continuous development, becoming a tool through which Spanish universities can develop their own systems for evaluating the teaching performance of academic staff. Through this programme, universities are able to design and implement models for assessing teaching quality that incorporate multiple sources of information — such as student feedback, faculty self-assessment and institutional evaluation — thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of university teaching.

The aim of the workshop was to present universities with the latest developments introduced in the DOCENTIA model and to share experiences and good practices in its implementation. During the event, several examples of teaching evaluation systems developed by Spanish universities were presented, highlighting their impact on improving teaching quality, recognising teaching performance and strengthening the institutional culture of evaluation.

In Andalusia, ACCUA carries out a range of activities within the DOCENTIA programme aimed at supporting universities in the design, certification and monitoring of their teaching evaluation models. In particular, the Agency participates in the assessment of the design of universities’ DOCENTIA programmes, the certification of their proper implementation and the monitoring of their operation, ensuring that these systems comply with the general principles that define the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

ACCUA’s participation in this workshop also forms part of the coordination work carried out by Spanish agencies through REACU to ensure coherence and consistency in evaluation processes across the university system as a whole. Within this framework, agencies share methodologies, technical criteria and evaluation experiences, contributing to the development of common frameworks that reinforce trust in the outcomes of quality assurance processes.

Through its participation in initiatives such as this workshop, ACCUA reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality of university teaching and to strengthening mechanisms for the evaluation of academic staff. These activities form part of the broader set of quality assurance actions carried out by the Agency, which include the evaluation and accreditation of official degree programmes, the institutional accreditation of university centres, the certification and monitoring of Internal Quality Assurance Systems, the evaluation of university teaching staff, and activities related to the evaluation of R&D&I.
