ACCUA meets with representatives of all Andalusian universities to jointly review its evaluation procedures

The working session strengthens institutional coordination and consolidates a shared vision of quality assurance within the Andalusian University System



On 24 February, the management team of the Agency for Scientific and University Quality of Andalusia (ACCUA) held a meeting with representatives of all Andalusian universities, both public and private, continuing the work previously carried out by its Director during his recent institutional visits. The session reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining a fluid and structured dialogue between ACCUA and Andalusian universities, to be implemented through a series of forthcoming technical meetings.

The meeting provided an opportunity to jointly analyse the evaluation procedures currently in force, review criteria, timelines and methodologies, and gather input from universities aimed at optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of processes. The discussions took place in a spirit of institutional collaboration, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening the Andalusian University System and aligning it with national and international quality assurance standards.

Among other issues, the session addressed procedures for the verification, modification and renewal of accreditation of official degree programmes, including evaluation under the European Approach; institutional accreditation processes for centres; teaching staff evaluation; as well as certification and monitoring programmes for Internal Quality Assurance Systems (IQAS). Coordination mechanisms with universities were also examined to ensure appropriate planning of calls, review panels and the issuance of reports.

ACCUA operates within the framework of the Spanish external quality assurance system, applying evidence-based criteria, peer review and technical independence. In this regard, the Agency reaffirmed its commitment to the rigorous application of objective criteria, transparency in decision-making and the continuous improvement of its own procedures, incorporating good practices identified within the European Higher Education Area.

The Director of ACCUA, Miguel Aguilar Urbano, underlined the importance of maintaining permanent dialogue with Andalusian universities, stating that “university quality is a shared responsibility that requires coordination, institutional trust and a consolidated culture of commitment to the continuous improvement of quality; that is, the pursuit of effectiveness, with efficiency, towards excellence.”

Through this meeting, ACCUA seeks to consolidate a collaborative working dynamic aimed at anticipating regulatory and academic challenges, reinforcing the legal certainty of evaluation processes, and contributing to positioning the Andalusian University System as a benchmark for quality, innovation and social commitment.
